Journey to Clear Skin | Sea Salt

Have you been struggling with unwanted breakouts, hyper-pigmentation or acne scars? If you said yes, you are not alone. I too suffer from all of the above. I have very sensitive skin. I suffer from eczema since birth. So I have been dealing with the skin issues for some time now.

I have always desired clear skin, who wouldn’t right? I tried so many products trying to help speed up the process. From over the counter products, dermatologist recommended and natural based products. My skin is annoying. It will suddenly get use to a product and it seems to stop working. Has that ever happened to you?

I remember in high school, ugh, it was the worst. I would go and buy MAC foundation trying to cover all my discoloration. Now, with the help of social media and youtube, I have learned how to correctly cover all of my flaws. But honestly, I am tired of covering them up, I want them out of here.

A few months ago, I saw a video from one of my favorite youtubers, April Bee. If you haven’t hear or seen her videos, please check her out. She is amazing. A few months ago, she shared her Journey to Clear skin. Her determination and results definitely motivated me to start again on getting my skin to how I would like it.

Here is her video! (Click link to watch it)

Clear Acne & Dark Spots Fast

After watching her document her journey as well as provide demonstrations, I decided to give it a try. Why? Because she used natural products. Now I won’t go into detail about the benefits of Sea Salt. If you are interested, please comment below and I can make another post soon.

So July 7, 2016, I decided to give her routine a try. Watch the video here.

Unfortunately, in the middle of the month (July 16, 2016), my dog, Simba passed away. He was 12 years old and he was literally my everything. If you own a dog, or any pet then maybe you can understand. I really couldn’t get myself to keep up with the routine as I would have liked. So I was not consistent with the routine.

I wanted to try this Sea Salt toner for 1 month just to see how it would work out for me while being consistent. As with anything, in order to see results, consistency is key. I do apologize to anyone who has waited for my results. But as we know, this is a journey so its not at the end point.

As of today, I have picked myself back into the routine. I am serious about having clear, even toned skin. So I will keep going. If you are interested in joining me or watching my journey then please follow me here as well as on my social media sites listed below.

Here are a few pictures of my issues. These are photos of my face months before learning about the Sea Salt toner. At this time I was using African Black Soap Bar soap & body soap by Shea moisture, toning with Witch Hazel by Dickinson. I occasionally used Aloe Vera Gel on my face at night time. I moisturized with Neutrogena Moisturizer for Combination Skin.

Before Sea Salt Toner  9.10.2015

Started using Dudu Osun Black Soap (June 2016)soap

*I started using a new Moisturizer as well. Aveeno Positively radiant daily moisturizer with spf 30. I used this daily, 2x day, rain or shine. (April 2016)**

Here is how my face looked after using the soap for 2 weeks.

Start Date of Sea Salt Toner 7.7.2016

Here I noticed that my face already looked brighter. The sea salt seem to purge my skin (pulled out the impurities). After I allowed it to air dry on my face, it had a tingling sensation. After I rinsed the toner off my face, hours later I noticed that my active pimples were starting to dry up.

From this point on I was not able to keep track. But here some videos, were I showed my bare face so you can see how my face looked before.

This was the first time I showed my bare face on camera. I no longer felt the need to hide it anymore. Oddly enough, this happen to be the worst I ever saw my acne scars.

In this Eyebrow video, You can see a huge improvement in my skin and tone already.

In this video, you can see how my skin is for the month of August. During this month, I wasn’t staying on schedule with the application of the sea salt toner. But I did maintain my routine of using the DuDu Osun soap and Neutrogena Moisturizer, daily (2x).

Here, I decided to go back to the sea salt toner. I liked the results I was getting and felt bad that I stopped using it. With all the stress and everything, you can see that I was getting breakouts. But my overall skin tone appears more even. (taken with my phone)

I still have my acne scars/hyperpigmentation but after each use of the sea salt toner I can see a difference in my skin. Any active pimples I had, slowly get smaller and dry up. It does not stink or have a tingling sensation anymore after applying it.

In the video, you saw that I would spray the toner onto my face. But I found that I didn’t get an even amount on my face. So for the month of September, I began applying the toner using a round cotton pad and I allowed it to stay on my face for 10-15 minutes. I also decided to switch up the oils (moisturizer). April Bee used Jojoba oil. I began using it too and it worked well. But I thought to myself that I wanted to clear up my skin even faster and I know the benefits of using Vitamin E oil on the skin. So I have been using Vitamin E oil as the last step.

I am determined to get clear skin. So I would like to be more consistent in my skin care routine. As mentioned in my video, I can pop up on my Periscope with monthly update videos. Please let me know how you would like me to document this journey. I think once a month would be suffice along with some photos posted here. I will try to take my photos in the same exact area and lighting so that it is also consistent.

Thank you so much for taking the time out to read this blog post. I hope that you will join me here and on the other places listed below. Thank you!
